Native American Smudging

Smudging ritual

Smudging is the practice of clearing negative energy by burning a smudge stick or herbs.

Smudging is a practice long held by Native American Indians who typically burn white sage leaves or cedar believing that the smoke captures negative energy, then as the smoke clears; it takes the negative energy away to where it can regenerate itself into positive energy.

You can buy smudge sticks quite cheaply from many metaphysical shops, online or make your own. Try smudging your home, particularly in the corners of rooms and corridors where negative energy is supposed to gather or catch. Also smudge yourself occasionally, family and even pets.

Remember to take the usual precautions with anything that burns or smolders.
